Sam is 25 years and is originally from Valatie, New York. She completed her bachelors degree in animal science with a concentration in equine and a minor in equine assisted therapies at SUNY Cobleskill. Prior to beginning her journey with STARS, Sam lived in Tampa, Florida working at a therapeutic riding facility called Bakas. Sam has been an horse rider her whole life and loves to teach people how to ride horses. Besides riding horses, Sam loves to volunteer with Special Olympics and spend time with her horse and two dogs! Sam is really excited to be able to work with STARS and cannot wait to meet all the athletes.
Why I love STARS….
Both of my parents were very involved with Special Olympics, so I had the opportunity to work with individuals with disabilities from a young age. When I got older I knew I wanted to work with individuals with disabilities but also work with horses as well. Discovering therapeutic riding in college allowed me work with both disabled individuals and horses together. I am excited to work with STARS because I get to work with people who share the same passion I do; working with individuals with special needs.
Other Stuff about Samantha…
