CASSANDRA MENDOZA

Cassandra (Cassie) was born and raised in Chicago, IL. During high school she knew she wanted to be out of the big city and in the mountains! Cassie moved to Gunnison, CO in 2013 to attend Western Colorado University and earned her degree in Wildlife Biology. She then spent a short time on an island in Alaska studying bears, hiking the island, and sharing her love for the outdoors. Missing Colorado, Cassie moved back to Gunnison in 2019 and received her master’s from Western Colorado University in Ecology. She moved to Steamboat Springs in 2021 and has loved every minute so far! Though Cassie’s background is varied in many ways, she is excited to join the STARS team as Camps and Groups Manager!

Why I Love STARS…

I have a great passion for nature and the outdoors, and I believe that anyone and everyone should have access to the amazingness that right outside our front door. Being able to share my knowledge and experiences to make peoples life in the outdoors that more interesting is something I love! And being able to be part of an organization that has the same views for outdoor recreation as I do is something very rewarding and I am grateful to be a part of.

Other Stuff about Cassie…

  • Loves hiking and camping in the summer and shredding on her snowboard in the winter!
  • Can usually be found out and about on adventures with her adventure pup, Bruno!
  • Nothing is better to wined down after a long day of excitement than a big blanket, a cup of tea, and a good YouTube video!
