Tim is from Wylie, Texas. He has been involved with adaptive recreation and sport since he was very young because of his disability, Spina Bifida. He focused on the sport of wheelchair basketball and got the opportunity to play competitively for a world-renowned program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. There He received his B.S. and M.S. in Sport Management. During his last semester, he assistant coached for the team he played for. During college Tim explored his sport management interests through multiple work, internship, and volunteer experiences. Tim fell in love with adaptive recreation and providing people with disabilities the opportunity to experience all of life’s possibilities.
Why I love STARS….
STARS represents everything I am passionate about. Growing up with a disability, there were many times I felt excluded and isolated because I was not able to participate in the activities my family and friends were doing. In Dallas, adaptive organizations like STARS showed me what I can do, not what I can’t. They empowered me to do activities I never thought possible and to experience life-changing opportunities. The STARS mission is to empower and enrich lives through adaptive recreational activities. There is no greater reward for me than to see the lives of youth, adults, and veterans positively impacted by our programs. The smiles of our clients are why I love STARS, and I am thrilled to be a part of it.
