Emily moved to Steamboat Springs from North Dakota in May of 2023 for a STARS summer internship, primarily spending her time at the Zen Equine Ranch helping with the adaptive horseback riding program. After completing her internship, she graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Psychology and ended up staying on full time with STARS as the Equine Coordinator in the summer and the Ski Base Front Desk Coordinator in the winter.

The opportunities provided by STARS have such a positive impact in people’s lives, creating lasting physical and emotional rewards. I especially love being able to witness the special bond that develops between a horse and rider through our adaptive horseback riding program.
