2021 – 2022 STARS COVID-19 MITIGATION POLICY

Beginning Monday, November 1, 2021, STARS will require all overnight guests to the STARS Ranch and individuals participating in programming to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

Overnight guests to the STARS Ranch and all individuals participating in programming will be required to show proof of vaccination prior to participating in programming. Proof of vaccination will need to be provided during check-in attestation* on the participant/overnight guests’ first day of programming with STARS.

Medical exceptions with physician name and contact number may be considered on a case-by-case basis in place of proof of vaccination for those who are not medically able to be vaccinated.

Beginning February 1, 2022, STARS will require child participants aged 5-11 to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.  Prior to this date, children 5 – 11 will be required to wear masks during all STARS programming and provide attestation that child is COVID-19 symptom free.

Participants and overnight guests to the STARS Ranch who are not medically able to be vaccinated will be required to provide a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to participation.

***For individuals providing approved exceptions to proof of vaccination, masks covering mouth and nose are required to be worn during the entirety of their time with STARS programming.

STARS will accept the following forms of proof of vaccination during check-in attestation:

  • COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card.
  • A picture/copy of one’s COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card.
  • Documentation of vaccination from a health care provider or electronic health record.
  • State immunization information system record.

STARS may consider the following documentation of medical exceptions during check-in attestation:

  • A letter from your primary physician confirming you are not able to be vaccinated due to a medical consideration. Include the physician’s contact information.
  • A picture/copy of a letter from your primary physician confirming you are not able to be vaccinated due to medical consideration. Include the physician’s contact information.
  • STARS will not consider medical exemptions signed by chiropractors, naturopathics, or non- medical practitioners.

***A physician’s note is not required for proof of age for those who are not old enough during the process of attestation. Proof of negative COVID-19 tests are also not required for participants under the age of 12. Instead, attestation will be administered at check – in confirming that the participant is asymptomatic. Attestation process will be implemented for children under the age of 12 until February 1, 2022. Beginning February 1, 2022, STARS will require participants aged 5-11 to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

STARS is implementing this policy with our participants health and safety in mind as top priority. With this update, STARS is striving to benefit many of our participants who have primary or underlying conditions that are COVID-19 risk factors. We are happy to report that our entire staff and volunteers are fully vaccinated and/or strictly wearing masks, and we look forward to an amazing winter season on the slopes.

*** All policies and guidelines are subject to change ***

*Check-in attestation will entail the following procedure: participants will show proof of documentation to STARS staff at check-in and then the participant/participant’s parent/guardian will sign stating that documentation has been provided to STARS prior to programming. STARS staff will then sign stating the documentation has been shown and approved prior to programming. For participants not old enough to receive the vaccine, the parent/guardian must sign stating that the child is asymptomatic.

*** Note that individuals should not provide proof of vaccination that includes any genetic information (e.g., family medical history). Any documentation received by an individual will be kept confidential to the extent required by law.

WHAT OUR PARTICIPANTS SAY

Armando A.

“I think STARS is amazing! At Teen Adventure Camp one of my favorite things to do is go bowling, because I get to play against the counselors. I also love doing horseback riding and participating in Western Adventure Camp. Mikey is my favorite horse to ride and brush, but all the horses are great!”

Ashley H.

“STARS has provided life-changing experiences for Ashley. They have been instrumental in the development of her self-confidence, physical abilities and her belief that her limitations can be overcome.”
