Melissa Pollack, Intern and Special Olympics Program Coordinator

Melissa was born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Melissa just recently moved full time to Steamboat in 2023. She graduated from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania with a bachelors degree in recreational therapy. Along with her bachelors degree, she became a Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (CTRS). Melissa learned to ski at the young age of two years old. She has been an avid skier ever since. While living in Pennsylvania, she instructed skiing for seven years. After a great ski vacation to Steamboat with her family, Melissa knew that she wanted to eventually call Steamboat her home. These trips inspired her to use her passion for skiing, and her college degree, to further her career in recreational therapy.

Why I love STARS…

“I love STARS because it has allowed me to be a part of such an inspirational community. I love being able to apply things I have learned along the way, and throughout my education, to create and implement fun, adaptive, and challenging activities. Through this, I have been able to give the athletes an overwhelming sense of support, freedom, and complete enjoyment.”
